LAKE WYLIE FAMILY CHIROPRACTIC

Born and raised in northern England, Alan Hartley earned his Bachelors degree and Ph.D. before moving to America to work 4 years in cancer research at Duke Medical Center in Durham, NC.

Although his years in cancer research were productive and rewarding, he wanted more direct interaction with patients. While it would have been easy to stay on at Duke and go through their MD program, he wanted to pursue an approach to health care that honored the body’s own inteligence in how it regulated and healed itself.

After much research, he discovered this particular vein of chiropractic that analyzes the neurological effects of slight misalignments in the human structure. He found the approach was scientifically sound, left Duke and moved his growing family to commit the next 4 years to full-time pursuit of his Doctor of Chiropractic degree.

Now he has his own practice just outside Charlotte, NC in Lake Wylie, SC.

Credentials:

Doctor of Chiropractic – (DC) valedictorian, summa cum laude, Sherman College of Straight Chiropractic.

Ph.D. – Biochemistry, with honors, University of Kent, Canterbury, England.(with research terms in Vevey, Switzerland and Braunschweig, Germany)

B.Sc. – Microbiology, with honors, University of Surrey, England

Cancer Research Scientist – Duke Medical Center, 4 years in Dept. of Cell Growth Regulation and Oncogenesis. Well published in major scientific journals.

Professor and Department Head – Head of Basic Sciences Dept; Professor of Biochemistry & Nutrition 6 years at accredited chiropractic college.

National Board of Chiropractic Examiners – Twice appointed to serve on this board that governs the profession and licensing nationwide.

Front desk- Janine Stack has been providing our patients with exceptional service for almost 7 years. She handles your appointments, insurance and billing questions and a number of other items that keep our office running smoothly. Be ready for her quick smile and contagious laugh- she’ll have you feeling like one of the family in no time.

Dr. Marcia Moyers- “Doc Marcia” is a gifted and experienced chiropractor who is also a licensed acupuncturist and critical care nurse. Marcia started her practice with us in 2011 and has quickly become a favorite among our patients. While her practice is technically separate from ours, we gladly handle her appointments, billing, etc. and provide the same level of support to her patients as our own. We are especially pleased that she is able to offer services that were previously not available anywhere in Lake Wylie, such as acupuncture, oriental medicine and the Legge method. Business support- Carrie Cespedes has been with us for almost all of the 10 years that we have been in Lake Wylie, handling our taxes, billing and bookkeeping. While you may not see Carrie out front, like you will encounter Janine, she is working diligently behind the scenes to make sure your account is handled correctly and promptly.
